- Cap convex to expanded, beige to pale brown-grey.
- Gills adnexed, the same colour as the cap.
- Stem stout, often shorter than the cap diameter, beautifully reddish-violet.

Grows in grass in pastures, gardens and open deciduous woodland in southern and central Nordic region.
Notes
Edible, but like Lepista nuda it can cause nausea if not parboiled before preparation. Forms fairy rings.
Similar species
Lepista nuda is closely related but does not have a reddish-violet stem.
