Ecology
Grows in both coniferous and deciduous forests throughout Europe.
Notes
Not poisonous but not recommended for consumption. Sometimes two forms are distinguished, a lighter one growing in coniferous forests and a darker, more robust one growing in deciduous forests and parks.
Similar species
Amanita excelsa is similar but lacks pink-red spots.
