Characteristics

– Cap gray to brown-gray, sometimes with a violet tint, often funnel-shaped with a small sharp hump in the center.
– Gills white, forked and with age reddish-brown spotted.
– Stem slender, often with white mycelium fuzz at the base.

Ecology

Grows in coniferous forests, primarily in northern parts of Europe.

Notes

Edible, but beware of toxic similar funnel-cap mushrooms, they never have forked gills.
