– Cap convex to expanded, slimy in moist weather, gray-lilac to gray-brown, becoming black-spotted with age.
– Gills decurrent, initially gray-white and covered with a clear slimy membrane, that later detaches leaving a slimy ring zone on the stem.
– Stem slimy to sticky, white, with a lemon-yellow base and a slimy ring zone.
– Ring zone soon blackens due to the falling black spores.

Grows with spruce in coniferous forests.
Notes
A good edible mushroom, but the cap cuticle should be removed before cooking, preferably already in the forest. Use only young, firm specimens.
