Characteristics

- Cap violet to brownish-lilac, hygrophanous.
- Gills adnate to slightly decurrent, flesh-pink to bluish-lilac.
- Stem violet, often paler than the cap.

Ecology

Grows on lawns, compost heaps and along roadsides throughout the Nordic region.

Notes

Edible but without much culinary value and should be parboiled before cooking.

Similar species

Resembles a small Lepista nuda but has a hygrophanous cap, meaning that the cap changes colour in wet compared with dry weather.
