- Cap at first bell-shaped, later convex to expanded and with a more or less distinct umbo, dark grey, sometimes with a paler margin.
- Gills adnexed, pale grey, with a black-dotted edge.
- Stem greyish-white to grey.
- Flesh dirty white, with a burning, acrid taste.

Ecology
Grows with beech in beech forest in the southern parts of the Nordic region.
Similar species
Similar to Tricholoma virgatum, but that species is more slender, has a more pointed umbo and grows in coniferous forest. Tricholoma bresadolanum has dark scales on the stem and grows with oak.
