Not many of them here in Dalarna either. We had a fantastic Karl Johan year two years ago, last year I found ONE worth picking! So I believe that there are Karl Johan years some years :-) Don’t give up hope yet, it’s still only August!

Här i boråstrakten är det så gott som över efter en mycket dålig period med få KJ som dessutom har varit av mycket dålig kvalitet genomgående. Du skriver att de kommer nu. Innebär det att det nyss har börjat hos er och hur är kvalitén?

We got plenty of them arround Lidköping but many of them seems to be “flats and houses” for worms. So most of them stays where I found them. No idea to carry them all the way home. Sadly.

Yes.

I have visited my best places. A lot of kanterell, and almost no KJ. Very few. Some years (for example 2 years ago) there was hundreds of them.

It’s so strange. I thought i will earn something this way, selling them in “svamp kopes”.

Is it true, that they do not come some years, even if the weather is very good (wet and warm)?

Wet and warm is not particularly good for KJ. The best seasons usually occur when it has become wet and cooler - after a dry and hot summer.

I live at the south of Stockholm. Now it sooooo many Karl Juhan mushrooms everywhere! I’ve been in the forest behind my house several times, it was so many Karl Juhans that I didn’t have to look for them. Just bow down and pich them up. Even boring :-)

You bring the hope back to me Katja! Did you have heavy rains in the recent times there?

Today I was 7 hours in the forest. Briliant kantarells (a lot of them this year) and few old soft KJ with worms. No new KJ

Weather is cooler now and very wet here. In forests there is alot of muschrooms but no KJ.

Why?
